Room Rules

The rules of Kisandria aren't that rough. Pretty much, you use common sense, and you'll do fine. If you've got doubts, just ask any handy staffer, or a regular. Of course, for those lacking in common sense, well, that's what the rest of the page is for.
Okay, the number one rule is really simple. If any of you have ever played any version of D&D, you know that the number one rule there is that 'The DM is God.' Same thing applies here... to a degree. The Host, the Co-Host, any Staffer... they're the same sort of thing. They tell you to do something, you do it. If you don't like it, fine, comply now, complain later. Complaining there and disturbing the room won't do you any good. Now, before you start whining, let me clarify this rule... While you have to obey, the varied staff of Kisandria are -not- always right. We're human, we make mistakes. So do the chatters. We make mistakes, you make mistakes... make up, and keep on roleplaying. Secondly, you don't have to pussyfoot around the staff. If you're debating something OOC (say, the relative goodness of Metallica versus Black Sabbath) then they can't claim that since they're staff, they're right. Uh, sorry, their jurisdiction just doesn't cover that. (That's some more of that common sense goodness.) If you need more clarification about this, ask, and I'll ramble a little more.

Rule number two! Woo, moving along... sing it with me! R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Okay, enough. My ears are sore enough as it is. Yeah, you're supposed to respect people. Get it? No flame wars. Not even little ones. You can't agree with someone? Ask a staffer to mediate for you. Uh, yeah, that's about it. Oh, yeah... this applies equally to both chatters and staff.

Rule number three... uh, this is the spot where I say that IMC site-wide rules override all room rules, and such... then I toss out links to the IMC Site Rules and Terms of Service and such things...

Rule numero fouro... the rating of Kisandria is M, for Monkeys... er, wait, for Mature. That means you're supposed to be a mature kind of person. That goes with all the sorts of things you'll see... swearing, insulting, crude comments, sexual innuendo... er, did I mention this was IC? Yeah. Insulting, crude comments... that sort of stuff kind of falls under the respect rule, and flaming is just a bad thing... too many combustibles around (like people). OOC, well, so long as no one's offended, there's not really a problem. However, if and when someone is offended and complains, you're expected to tone down this behaviour. It's the whole respect thing, again. If you don't think you should have to, ask a staffer.

Rule five... no zippiness, no godmoding... if you've played, you know what this means. If not, ask. People will be happy to tell you.

Rule six is a bit unique. While people cannot just kill your character zippily, they can connive to force your character into a situation they cannot escape from. If they legally do this, your character is dead, whether you consent or not. Kisandria, IC, is a place of war. People die in such places, often through no fault of their own. If you have a complaint about how a person did this (OOC manipulation, metagaming, etc) you can bring it to staff's attention and they can annul the character death.
That's really most of the behavioural type stuff, I guess, if I wanted to class it together. Now, for the odd details...

Picture Size: Maximum size is 300x300. This does -not- mean that if you cut one side down to 250, you can put the extra fifty pixels on the other side to make it 350. Uh, sorry, no! 300 pixels is the absolute maximum to a side. Anything larger than this is just excessive. If you absolutely need more, just post a link to a picture, and people can look at it as they like. Filesize wise, it's limited to thirty kilobytes. That's 30k. Or, for those people who like the nitty gritty, since there are 1024 bytes to a kilobyte, that's 30720 bytes. No more, but yes, you're allowed less. Please, by all means, have smaller files. The people on dialup will appreciate it.

Picture Content: According to IMC Site rules, no pornography is allowed. No bare nipples on females. No genital region shots on any gender. Another common sense rule: Think about why you use the picture. If you're using it merely to make your character look really hot, maybe you should rethink that...

Characters: All characters must be applied for. Send apps to the host at kisandria@telus.net, and he'll take care of them for you. If you need help with the app, check out the section in the Guide to Roleplaying about character creation, or ask a random staffer. Also, you're allowed to play a character for two weeks (14 days) before you must app. This doesn't mean you must apply fourteen days exactly after you first start playing your character... it does mean, though, that you're not allowed to play any more past the fourteenth day before apping. Once apping, you're free to start playing again, without waiting for approval. Also, unapped and unapproved characters should be marked in tags as such, as they're not allowed to make large effects on the world. They're not allowed to kill anyone, form groups, or join groups, for instance. Applications are in everyone's best interest, for maintaining game balance, so everyone can have fun.
Now, for the wonderful area of enforcement. Honestly, I don't enjoy enforcing rules. I'd rather just RP and have fun myself. Unfortunately, this isn't a perfect world, so I do what I have to do. I do not have a harsh nature. What I do have is a very sharp sense of justice. I dislike people being falsely accused, for example. Also, I want fair and equitable punishment for people who do break the rules. Still, this is balanced by my sense of mercy.

Generally, the first thing I'll do in any sort of punishment scenario, is talk to a few people. The accused, the plaintiff, (Can you tell I've taken Law?) and most likely a least a couple of my staff. The only reason I would skip these, is if I, for instance, saw you perform the action in question, while I was in the room, and it was rather blatant in its breaking of the rules. Usually, I work on an escalating scale of punishment. If you break a rule, you might just get ejected for the rest of the day. However, if, when you come back, you break another one, you'll likely get ejected for longer, two or three days. And, it keeps on growing. The learning curve is not too steep, I believe. Of course, there is still mercy in this. If I see you're 'going clean', then you essentially get reset. I won't punish you greater because of previous misdeeds. That's unconstitutional, for one, and unreasonable, in my (not-so)humble opinion, for two.
