Aegishels
Common Name(s): Aegishels
Size: Varies (Usually medium, 5' height)
Type: There are three types of Aegishels, all which are humanoids. Pure Aegishels (Note: Only five pure Aegishels remain.), Aegishels, and Aegishel/Human hybrids.
Lifespan: As humanoids, Aegishelians usually begin to deteriorate progressively upon reaching fourty years, depending on how well the body is maintained. Upon death, an Aegishel's body can be reanimated through magical means, presuming the essential components are still intact.
Movement Speed: Aegishels possess a hightened ability of maneuverability and agility. These hightened abilities allow a substantial increase in torque, overall speed, and the ability to run for prolonged durations of time.
Armour: Zelkruir Armor is carved from Kahiron bones (Kahiron - ancient, legendary dragons with metallic, paramagnetic silverish lustering bones. The dragons were said to have attained snake-like figures, that could easily bend, quite resistant to corrosion, thus being extremely flexible). Forged with a resilient Kahiron, Drecrova alloy (Drecrova minerals are profoundly rare to obtain, as well as utterly expensive. They are highly resistant to many chemicals and heat, while being very light in weight. When found in a solid state, they possess a grayish hue). The armor itself is overlaid with several coats of Kahiron blood, which proves highly toxic to those of no Aegishel descent. Pure Aegishels are resistant to the adverse effect of this toxin, as one's with Aegishel in their blood are not as susceptible to those without. Drulnois toxin(Kahiron blood) is a thick, poisonous silvery-white coloration that has many toxin. If this chemical comes into contact with an individual by inhalation (it would have to be mixed profusely with soil) it would cause, in a human: choking, chest constriction, corrosive to mucous membranes, thus leading to coughing, painful breathing, bloody sputum, severe headaches, ringing in ears sensation, dizziness, possible unconsciousness, increased production of saliva, a running nose, and bloody convulsive vomiting by bleeding of esophagus. It may have different effects on different races, however, the only one known to have a complete racial immunity is the Aegishels. It emits an odd faint fragrance that seems like a mix of copper and kiwi. When in its thick liquid state (state it is originally found in) it induces a type of erythema (abrupt widening of the small blood vessels upon the surfaces of the skin, leaving a reddish bruise-like appearance that will numb the victim and progressively spread along the skin, and subcutaneous tissues). It is also know to cause sudden fatigue that gradually drains the opponent.
Attacks: Aegishels possess a great deal of physical strength, and are usually prone to physical combat. This enhanced physical strength allows them to wield practically any weapon at their discretion. Aegishels mainly engage combat with a weapon in hand. However, they are also known to be just as skilled with their bare hands.
Special Attacks: None.
Special Qualities: Aegishels are gifted with added muscles and tendons in their arms and legs. These add-ons are the main reason for their increased physical capabilities. The Kreldon tendon is a relatively small tendon that originates from the anatomical hollowed area behind the knee(popliteal fossa). This allows the tendon(Gracilis Prodenum levator=slender muscle that provides superior movement) to run up inbetween the upper inner quadrant of rear end(posterior) surface, that flexes and medially rotates the knee(semitendinosus) and a well defined double muscle that flexes and laterally rotates the leg at the knee, extends, adducts and laterally rotates the thigh at the hip (bicep femoris) to the hamstring portion: lower outer quadrant of posterior surface (adductor magnus) where it connects. It allows effective acceleration by the way the muscles attach to the limbs. Simply put, the Kreldon tendons attach far down the large upper leg bone(femur), to the inner and larger of the two bones in the lower leg (tibia), and the outer and narrower of the two bones in the human lower leg(fibula). This allows a large amount of torque when the muscles are contracted. Also, the same Gracilis prodemun levator runs down to the largest muscle in the calf of the leg, that extends from the thigh bone to the Achilles tendon. When it contracts it causes the foot to point downward(gastrocnemius muscles). This provides protection to the posterior portion of the otherwise perilous knee cap(patella), while allowing an exceptional increase in upper, and lower, leg strength. It also reduces the risk of hyper extending the aforementioned muscles, providing prolonged bouts of running. Another bonus to the added muscle and tendon is the increased rate of muscle contraction, allowing one to run faster. The Aradon tendon is a tendon that allows the extensive longest muscle that makes forearm and hand rigid (longissimus caestrun tensor ) to wind down the entire length of the arm from the top of the humerus(longest upper arm bone). The Aradon tendon bonds the Longissimus caestrun tensor to the bone inbetween the large muscles in the upper arm that contracts to bend the elbow(bicep) and the muscles that have three points of anchorage, especially the large muscle running along the back of the upper arm that straightens the elbow(tricep) where little muscle resides, which causes a noticeable increase in upper arm strength. The Longissimus caestrun tensor also winds down into the forearm between the common flexor origin of medial epicondyle that flexes the wrist(humerus palmaris longus) and the muscle that flexes arm at elbow and brings forearm into midprone position(brachioradialis), bonding with the muscles that Flexes and abducts the wrist(flexor carpi radialis) as well. This allows an exceptional increase in the grip strength of a pure Aegishel.
Abilities:
---Strength: Superior.
---Agility: (Without armor) Superior. (With armor) Improved.
---Dexterity: Improved.
---Constitution: Improved.
---Intelligence: Varies upon the individual (Usually Superior).
---Wisdom: Varies upon age (Usually Improved).
(All abilities are as compared to humans, who thus have a racial score of 'average' in all statistics.)
Skills: Pure Aegishels are gifted with the innate sense to forge, and don, the prestigious Zelkruir armor. Any not of pure Aegishel descent would only manage to forge a brittle set of armor, regardless of one's magical prowess, or past experiences as a Blacksmith. (Note: The armor is crafted for the wearer's body only, and will not fit any other.)
Talents: None.
Magical talent: Unfortunately, an Aegishel lacks the mental tolerance to learn even the simplest of spells.
Mental talent: The same lack of mental tolerance in regards to magical properties applies to telekinesis. This prevents Aegishels from comprehending the extensive nature of mind speech.
Climate/Terrain: As humanoids, Aegishels are essentially warm-blooded creatures. Their bodies adapt to the appropriate temperatures accordingly. However, like humanoids, their bodies remain susceptible to exceedingly high temperatures. Aegishels are usually found living among their human counterparts, or in the general vicinity of human residence.
Diet: Aegishels diet reflects that of a human. However, Aegishels usually require a higher intake of carbohydrates and iron.
Organization: Aegishels are partial to staying in groups. These groups usually consist of kindred, or exceptionally close friends. However, it is possible that an Aegishel might exclude one's self from a group, usually taking a younger sibling with them.
Treasure: Aegishels are not known to carry anything extraordinary with them. It is common to sometimes find them with various precious stones and the like.
Alignment: Chaotic neutral.
Relations with other races:
Humans: Aegishels are rather partial to humans, fond of their way of living. The majority of mixed breeding in the Aegishel race dealt with humans. This spawned the common human/Aegishel hybrids around Kisandria.
Vampires: Aegishels despise vampires on a grand scale level. This animosity is due to the fact that vampires played a tragic role in the dwindling of their numbers in the past. Now, an Aegishel (pure or not) would more than likely try to strike down any vampires they might encounter. (Note: The blood of a pure Aegishel is considered exceptionally sweet to vampires, giving them a lustful taste for it. Once a vampire gets a taste of a pure Aegishel's blood, it would solely crave it and it alone. Since a pure Aegishel's blood is thicker than humans, a vampire would stay fed for quite some time without having to feed again. This would cause them not to feed among humans and the like after tasting a pure Aegishel's blood, and usually led to their demise, as pure Aegishels have became rare.).
Lycanthropes: Aegishels also dislike these creatures, but not to the same extent as vampires. The reason for Aegishels dislike to lycanthropes is their uncanny resemblance to the creatures that once tormented them on the island they occupied. If a pure Aegishel encountered a lycanthrope, battle would most likely ensue pending the lycanthrope's actions. However, if an Aegishel of impure descent encountered one, he/she would probably just avoid it alltogether.
Elves: Aegishels are indifferent to the elven race. There had not been a situation to warrant hatred or fondness. A neutral existence stays between the two races.
Imps: Aegishels are indifferent to these creatures as well. It is not uncommon for an imp, of curious nature, to follow an Aegishel when they travel away from an establishment. It is, however, unlikely that an Aegishel would care too much, unless ample threat is provided by the particular imp.
Aegishel/Human hybrids: The relation to these highly common hybrids are the same as that with humans. However, a pure Aegishel might feel compelled to test these hybrids on a whim. (Note: An Aegishel/Human hybrid possesses the same abilities as humans. These hybrids will have either the added tendons and muscles in their arms, legs, or neither. You will never find these hybrids with both.)
