Lankanier

The isolated island of Lankanier did not lie too far from the mainland of Kisandria. Lankanier was easily visible from the shorelines of Kisandria's Northwestern most section. The towering volcano, Vourkan, that stood amidst the center of the conglomerated forest, was the most recognizable feature on the entire island. It was rumored that one could actually see the miniscule details of Kahiron dragons circling the towering volcano from the shorelines of Kisandria. Of course, those will remain whispered rumors due to the mysterious turn of events that foresook the island. The island of Lankanier always remained rather secluded from the mainland itself, chiefly because of the terrible rumors surrounding the somewhat mysterious island. These rumors usually consisted of tales of horrible monsters plaquing the land. The aforementioned monsters were known as Ecureuils by the Aegishel, being terribly malformed Kahiron dragons that lived amid the dense forest. The few explorers that did visit the island took note of the beautiful scenery and random stories provided by the Aegishels. Several documents from various explorers state the surprisingly cool weather, due to the sea breezes, around the outskirts on such a tropical island. The forest seemed lush from what few exlporers could tell, not having the gall to actually venture into the forest confines. There is little to no detail about Vourkan, just that it is huge.

On the fateful day the brave group of Aegishelian Men and women set out to kill the reigning Achtzehn Edicythe, a nefarious Ecureuil emerged from the dismal depths of the ground near the peek of Vourkan. A long, enduring, battle promptly ensued, leaving the five Aegishelian men slain. Fortunately, this gave the three women ample time to flee the monstrosity and continue on their quest. Those virtuous, Aegishelian women that sought to topple Achtzehn Edicythe were all destroyed within the depths of Vourkan by an enigmatic, black, ethereal leviathan from deep within the bowels of Vourkan. This being spewed a perilous black mautruel mist from the volcano that blanketed the entire island over a span of thirty minutes. The highly unnatural mist substantially bent the trees surrounding Vourkan's base outwards, and totally eradicated living tissue and weaker bones (Aegishels), leaving countless relics lying upon the ground. However, the mist continued to pour outwards, rolling passed the shorelines and onto the water. The mist's affect on the water was astonishing, sending billowing walls of steam upwards as it surrounded all of Lankanier in a twenty mile radius. The steam served as a momentary shield of sorts for the events yet to transpire, blocking off all normal sight from the mainland for the duration of one hour. During that elongated hour, Vourkan collapsed in on itself, sending major tremors throughout Lankanier. These tremors spawned countless fissures around the island, billowing black smoke sporadically. The remnants of Vourkan remain strewn about the island, leaving a gaping crater in the ground. This eerie crater is filled with an incessant swarming black liquid, resembling that of the mist surrounding Lankanier. No one knows what events preceded during the steam's presence, only realizing that the once towering volcano was no more when the steam finally dissipated. However, the foreboding mist maintained its twenty mile perimeter around Lankanier ever since its appearance. Inside that perimeter lies a massive waterfall-like trench, caused by the lowering of the ocean level. The island of Lankanier remains hidden by the ever-present mist to this day, giving leeway to various suspicions about the island's, and its inhabitants, fate.
